Goji berries are good for your eyes(part.1)

A small handful of goji berries a day could help improve eye health and prevent macular degeneration, according to a new study published in the journal nutrients. Macular degeneration is a major cause of vision loss and blindness in the elderly, affecting the visual health of 170 million people worldwide.

For the study, Li Xiang, ph.d. , an American University of California, Davis in nutritional biology, and his team randomly assigned 27 participants, ages 45 to 65, to one of two groups, a group of 13 participants to eat 28 grams of goji berries every day (about a small handful) , 5 days a week, adhere to 90 days. Group B (14 participants) were given eye health supplements.

The results showed that the eye pigment lutein and zeaxanthin density increased significantly in the experimental group, while there was no increase in the eye pigment density in the control group.
